On August 18, 2024, at approximately 4 a.m., Rockford Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 4500 block of Governor's Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered 26-year-old Martayvious Dequan "Tay" Evans suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Evans was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. Two additional victims, a 28-year-old male with gunshot wounds to his arm and hand, and a 35-year-old female with a gunshot wound to her lower leg, were ...
