Clay Edwin Megan, 22, of Peoria, Illinois, passed away on November 4, 2024. Born on February 14, 2002, in Peoria to Shawon Megan and Tiffany Ford, Clay graduated from Washington Community High School. He worked for UPS before serving in the United States Navy. Clay had a passion for electronic dance music concerts, fishing, gaming, riding motorcycles and ATVs, and camping. He was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and Ohio State football. Known for living life to the fullest, Clay was a loyal friend and generous individual who cherished his friends and family.
He is survived by his father, Shawon (Eloisa) Megan of Peoria; his mother, Tiffany Ford of East Peoria; step-siblings Jacob Ray, Justin Ray, and Jessica Ray; grandparents Celia (David) Henry, Sheri Ford, and Ella Mago; great-grandmother Caroline Turnbow; aunts and uncles Brandie Megan, Jill (Russell) Henry, Davey (Kristina) Henry, and Brandon (Kelly) Ford; his beloved dog, Duke; and several cousins. Visitation was held on November 8, 2024, at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel, followed by a graveside service on November 9 at Swan Lake Memory Gardens.
Clay's death was the result of gun violence in Peoria. The Peoria Police Department has sought public assistance in their investigation into the homicide. Community members have honored Clay's memory by lighting candles and sharing remembrances. His passing highlights the ongoing issue of gun violence in the area, prompting calls for community action and support for affected families.
