In the early evening of March 22, 2023, tragedy struck at a Marietta, Georgia, apartment complex, leaving a young man's life cut short. Dacari Early, a 23-year-old male, was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds in the doorway of an apartment at the Pines at West Cobb. First responders were called to the scene around 7:30 p.m., but despite their efforts, Early succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the complex.
The investigation into the shooting quickly pointed to a
suspect. Investigators from the Cobb County Police Department identified 22-year-old Joshua Nash of Cincinnati, Ohio, as the alleged shooter. Authorities promptly secured arrest warrants for Nash, charging him with a slate of serious offenses, including murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Initially, Nash was considered armed and dangerous and was believed to have possibly fled back to Ohio.
The manhunt for Nash concluded the following day when he was taken into custody in Rome, Georgia. Following his arrest, Nash was booked into the Floyd County Jail. In addition to the charges related to Dacari Early's death, he also faced new charges in Floyd County for credit card theft, making false statements to the police, and two counts of giving false identification. The motive for the fatal shooting has not been publicly released by law enforcement officials.
