In the early morning hours of May 27, 2023, the life of 17-year-old Montavious Gunn was tragically cut short in LaGrange, Georgia. Officers responded to a call on Fourth Avenue around 12:30 a.m. and discovered Gunn with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was quickly transported to Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center, but despite the efforts of medical personnel, he was pronounced deceased shortly after his arrival.
The investigation into the shooting led detectives to a 16-year-old male who was subsequently taken into custody. The teenage suspect, who has not been publicly identified due to his age, was charged with involuntary manslaughter and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. The incident was one of two unrelated shootings involving teenagers that occurred in Troup County over the Memorial Day weekend. Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to contact the LaGrange Police Department.
