In the early summer evening of Sunday, June 4, 2023, a dispute in Montgomery County, Georgia, set in motion a series of tragic events. Near Jake McCaw Road in the Kibbee area, a confrontation occurred between 23-year-old Mason Andrew McCarty of Vidalia and another man, 27-year-old Hunter Blake Kersey. The altercation escalated, and around 7:20 p.m., a weapon was introduced, and a shot was fired, striking McCarty.
