On June 15, 2023, 22-year-old Deyon Cortez "Dee Dee" Wade Jr. was fatally shot in Columbus, Georgia. The incident occurred on Rice Street in south Columbus, where Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan pronounced him dead at the scene at 9:59 p.m. An autopsy was scheduled to determine the exact cause of death. As of December 2024, the Columbus Police Department continues to seek leads in the case, urging anyone with information to contact Sgt. Danforth.
