On a Wednesday afternoon in September 2023, tragedy struck at a southwest Atlanta apartment complex, leaving a community shaken and a family grieving. Darryl Chambers, a 49-year-old Black male, was found unresponsive inside the Hidden Pines apartments located on Cushman Circle, just inside the perimeter of I-285. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his head and torso and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel who were called to the location at approximately 1:20
p.m. The incident was quickly ruled a homicide, prompting an intensive investigation by the Atlanta police.
The investigation into the shooting death of Darryl Chambers led to the identification of two suspects. The first arrest was made in November 2023 when 33-year-old Kadeem Frison of Austell was taken into custody. He was subsequently charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Warrants indicated that Frison did not act alone and was believed to have had 'co-conspirators' involved in the fatal shooting. This information proved to be accurate as the investigation continued to unfold over the following months, with law enforcement actively seeking at least one other individual connected to the crime.
More than a year later, in February 2025, a second suspect was apprehended in connection with Chambers' death. With the assistance of the FBI, Atlanta police arrested 38-year-old Quinton Tucker. He faced a litany of charges, including murder, three counts of felony murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Tucker had been indicted in June of the previous year but had remained at large until his capture. Following his arrest, he was booked into the Fulton County Jail to await further legal proceedings, marking a significant development in the ongoing quest for justice for Darryl Chambers.
