In the late afternoon of a warm Saturday in September, a life was tragically cut short in Columbus, Georgia. On September 23, 2023, 23-year-old Josè Rodriguez, a Hispanic male, was found inside a vehicle in the 2000 block of Fort Benning Road. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
Columbus Police officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 3:32 p.m. following a report of a person having been shot.
Upon their arrival, they discovered the young man, who was later identified as Josè Rodriguez, already deceased. The initial news release from the Columbus Police Department classified the case as a murder investigation.
