In the crisp evening air of November 18, 2023, the life of 20-year-old Kealan Tre Hardeman was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire on Brentwood Avenue in Macon, Georgia. A ShotSpotter alert drew Bibb County sheriff's deputies to the 1400 block of the street just after 6 p.m., where they discovered Hardeman with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to Atrium Health Navicent, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at 7:02 p.m.
Kealan, known to friends and family as 'King Kealan' and 'Golden Boy,' was a promising young man with a future full of potential. A 2021 graduate of Central High School, where he was a standout football player, he had gone on to Valdosta State University to major in Sports Medicine and play for the VSU football team. Beyond his athletic and academic pursuits, Kealan was an aspiring entrepreneur, having started his own clothing line called 'BreakDaBank.' He was remembered as a respectful and hardworking individual who set goals and was determined to achieve them.
The investigation into Kealan's death led authorities to 22-year-old Quintavious Johnson. In January 2024, Johnson was taken into custody from the Bleckley County Jail and charged with the murder of Kealan Hardeman. He is also facing six counts of pointing a firearm at another person and is being held without bond. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting.
