On January 24, 2024, a tragic incident occurred in Fort Gaines, Georgia, resulting in the death of Ervin Smith, a 59-year-old resident of the area. The events unfolded around 2:00 p.m. when the Clay County Sheriff's Office received a report of a shooting on Doughty Road.
