On February 2, 2024, a dispute inside an Albany, Georgia, convenience store on a Friday afternoon escalated into a fatal shooting that claimed the life of 23-year-old Keyvon Hardy, a male resident of the city. The incident, which unfolded at a Shell gas station on Old Dawson Road, also resulted in the injury of another individual.
The altercation began with a three-person fight inside the store. Following the initial conflict, one of the men involved went out to his car. When the other two men exited the store, an exchange of gunfire erupted. Keyvon Hardy was struck by the gunfire and was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The second man injured in the shooting was identified as Kameron Jackson, also 23 years old. Jackson was treated for his injuries and was reported to be in stable condition.
In the aftermath of the shooting, an investigation led to the arrest of one of the men involved. Kameron Jackson was taken into custody after receiving medical treatment and was subsequently charged with murder in connection with Keyvon Hardy's death. He was booked into the Dougherty County Jail.
The third individual involved in the altercation, who fled the scene before police arrived, was identified as 24-year-old Aaron Santrez Edwards III. A search for Edwards was initiated, and he was later apprehended. Booking records indicate that Aaron Santrez Edwards III was charged with murder and aggravated assault with a firearm.
