In the spring of 2024, a burst of gunfire shattered the afternoon quiet on Monarch Drive in Albany, Georgia, leaving a young man's life cut tragically short. Emonyei Quinn Ward, a 20-year-old male, was fatally shot on April 9th in an act of violence that would soon lead to the arrest of two teenagers. The incident, which marked the sixth homicide in Dougherty County for the year, unfolded around 4:36 p.m. when the sound of gunshots prompted a resident to look outside, only to discover Ward lying in a yard.
The Albany Police Department's Criminal Investigative Bureau swiftly launched an investigation. Within two days, their efforts resulted in the apprehension of two suspects. Eighteen-year-old Kentrell Robinson and 17-year-old Marion Sanders were taken into custody on April 11, 2024, in connection with Ward's death. The investigation was still active, with authorities indicating that more arrests could be forthcoming as they continued to piece together the events of that fatal afternoon.
Following their arrests, both teenagers were transported to the Dougherty County Jail to face serious charges. Robinson's charges include Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, and Tampering with Evidence. Sanders has been charged with Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.
