In the waning hours of a Sunday afternoon in Atlanta, on April 7, 2024, the life of 44-year-old Loquez B. Bell was tragically cut short by gunfire. The incident unfolded around 5:51 p.m. in the 700 block of Joseph E. Boone Boulevard in the city's northwest quadrant, near the Vine City neighborhood. When Atlanta police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered two men had been shot.

Bell was found with gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical personnel. A second individual, a 31-year-old male, was also found with multiple gunshot wounds to his back. He was conscious and alert when he was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The investigation into the shooting took a significant turn the following day. On April 8, 2024, the Atlanta Police Department's Homicide Unit classified the fatal shooting of Loquez B. Bell as a 'Felon Killed by Private Citizen.' Subsequently, arrest warrants were issued for the 31-year-old man who was injured in the incident, identified as Walter Wallace III.
Wallace is facing a string of serious charges, including Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. He was taken into custody by law enforcement at the hospital where he was recovering from his gunshot wounds. The investigation into the circumstances that led to the violent encounter is ongoing.
