On April 8, 2024, 46-year-old Latoya Denise Price was found deceased in her home on Algernon Circle in Augusta, Georgia. An investigation determined that the Black/African American female had been fatally shot. The tragic discovery was made around 6 p.m., prompting an immediate investigation by the Richmond County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities quickly identified Tarance Revell, also 46, as a suspect in Price's death.
Investigators learned that Revell and Price had been in a long-term relationship. Revell had a history of arrests in both Richmond and Columbia counties for various offenses. The search for Revell began shortly after Price's body was found.
Later that same evening, at approximately 9:53 p.m., deputies from the Richmond County Sheriff's Office located Revell driving Price's vehicle. A police pursuit ensued, ending on the 3100 block of Washington Road with assistance from the Georgia State Patrol. When officers approached the vehicle, they discovered Revell had sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. While a motive for the murder was not publicly disclosed by the sheriff's office, the case is considered closed due to the death of the primary suspect. Autopsies for both Price and Revell were scheduled to be conducted at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation lab in Atlanta.
