In what should have been a straightforward car sale, a 58-year-old man named Stanley Neely and his daughter Heather were shot and killed on Sunday, June 23, 2024. The fatal encounter took place at the Freedom Park apartments on Delano Road in South Fulton, a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia. Stanley had arranged to meet a man there to sell a car.
An argument erupted between Stanley and the potential buyer over the payment for the vehicle.
The disagreement quickly escalated to deadly violence when the man opened fire, shooting Stanley first and then his daughter, Heather. Both father and daughter died at the scene from their injuries. The day of the shooting was just one day before Stanley's birthday.
The shooter fled the scene after the incident. For months, the suspect remained at large, leaving the Neely family in anguish and seeking justice. In September 2025, authorities announced the arrest of Kendrick Faibvre in connection with the double homicide. He was subsequently charged with multiple offenses, including murder and aggravated assault.
During court proceedings, Faibvre's defense attorney claimed that he acted in self-defense. However, prosecutors argued that Faibvre's actions showed a blatant disregard for human life. A judge denied bond for Faibvre, ensuring he would remain in custody pending further legal action. The case was eventually sent to a grand jury.
