In the late hours of a July evening in Augusta, Georgia, the life of 19-year-old Elijah James Oliver was tragically cut short. On July 20, 2024, in the parking lot of The Pointe apartment complex on Acapulco Drive, Elijah was found with at least one gunshot wound. Emergency services were called to the scene at 12:46 a.m., and he was quickly transported to Wellstar MCG.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, he was pronounced dead at 1:23 a.m.
The investigation into the shooting led the Richmond County Sheriff's Office to identify and arrest four individuals in connection with the death of the young man. Within days of the incident, three teenagers were taken into custody. These included 18-year-old Nasceir Damiano Tywan Mitchell, 19-year-old Devin Anthony Garnett, and 16-year-old Terrell Miller. All three were charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, facing serious accusations in the untimely death of Elijah Oliver.
Nearly two months later, the investigation culminated in a fourth arrest. On September 16, 2024, 20-year-old Marvin Hall was apprehended at a residence on Bungalow Road with the assistance of the Southeastern U.S. Marshal's Fugitive Task Force. Hall faced a string of charges, including Malice Murder, Felony Murder, and Possession of a Firearm or Knife during the Commission of a Crime. The arrests brought a measure of progress in a case that had left a family and community mourning the loss of a young life.
