In the early morning hours of September 2, 2024, the life of 34-year-old Brody Birks was tragically cut short in Columbus, Georgia. Columbus Police officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 5500 block of Miller Road at approximately 2:22 a.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered Birks suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene and transported Birks to Piedmont Columbus Regional hospital.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 3:52 a.m. An autopsy was scheduled to be performed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to determine the official cause of death.
Originally from Utah, Brody Birks had moved to Georgia and was remembered by friends and family for his kind heart, radiant smile, and great sense of humor. He was a father and was known for his polite and well-mannered nature.
As of now, the Columbus Police Department's investigation into the deadly shooting is ongoing. There have been no public announcements regarding any suspects or arrests in connection with the death of Brody Birks. The circumstances leading up to the shooting have not been released by authorities.
