In the late summer of 2024, the community of Social Circle, Georgia, was shaken by the discovery of a young man's body. On September 18, the remains of 23-year-old Adrian Deion Wofford, a Black male from Jefferson, Georgia, were found on a roadway in Walton County. An investigation by the Social Circle Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was promptly launched, revealing that Wofford had died from multiple gunshot wounds.
The investigation led to the identification
of five suspects. On October 5, 2024, law enforcement arrested 19-year-old Rosalynn Ellison and 20-year-old Jevhon Reece, both residents of Social Circle, in connection with Wofford's death. They were taken into custody in Jones County and subsequently booked into the Walton County Jail. The charges against them include conspiracy, armed robbery, aggravated assault, murder, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
Further developments in the case came in early 2025. Three teenagers were also implicated in the crime. Charles Johnson, 17, and Christian Johnson, 15, both from Social Circle, along with 16-year-old Trayvon Means of Gainesville, Florida, were charged with a litany of offenses. These charges include hijacking a motor vehicle, kidnapping, false imprisonment, armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime, and felony murder. The three teenagers were already in custody in Gainesville, Florida, on unrelated charges when they were served with the warrants for their involvement in Wofford's death.
The GBI has announced that the extradition process for the three teens from Florida to Georgia will begin soon so they can face the charges against them. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Adrian Wofford's death is ongoing. Once the investigation is complete, the case file will be turned over to the Alcovy Judicial Circuit District Attorney's Office for prosecution. The community continues to seek answers and await justice for the untimely death of the young man.
