In the early hours of a Sunday in January 2018, a gathering at a residence on Meadows Lane in Social Circle, Georgia, turned tragic, ending the life of 27-year-old Jonathan Rajiv Gresham. An argument erupted between Gresham and another man, Keith Katrell Malcom, which escalated and moved from inside the house to the outdoors. It was there that the dispute took a fatal turn.
As Gresham attempted to leave the party with his sister's children in her car, Malcom opened fire, shooting Gresham
five times while he was in the driver's seat. The children in the back seat witnessed the horrific event. Despite being critically injured, Gresham managed to drive away from the scene. The children in the car called 911 for help. The vehicle was later found on the side of Highway 11, where law enforcement and emergency services discovered them. Gresham was transported to Clearview Regional Medical Center in Monroe, but he succumbed to his injuries and died.
The investigation, a collaborative effort by the Social Circle Police Department, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and the Walton County Sheriff's Office, quickly led to a suspect. Keith Katrell Malcom, who was identified as the boyfriend of Gresham's sister, was arrested in connection with the shooting. He was subsequently charged with a litany of offenses, including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, cruelty to children in the first degree, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
In November 2019, a Walton County jury found Kenneth 'Keith' Malcom guilty of the murder of Jonathan Gresham. The prosecution detailed how the fatal altercation unfolded in front of the children. Following his conviction on multiple counts, including malice murder and cruelty to children, Malcom was sentenced for his role in the death of Jonathan Rajiv Gresham.
