In the early morning hours of a Sunday in Austell, Georgia, a violent encounter left one man dead and another hospitalized. The incident unfolded shortly before 12:30 a.m. on Linworth Boulevard, where gunshots shattered the night's quiet. Responding to a 911 call, Cobb County police officers discovered two men suffering from gunshot wounds.
One of the victims was 54-year-old Jeffrey Moore of LaGrange. He had been shot in the abdomen and was rushed to a local hospital for medical attention. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Moore succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The second victim, identified as 44-year-old Mikal Hart, also from LaGrange, was shot in the torso and groin. He was transported to the hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.
At the scene of the shooting, police took a suspect into custody without significant incident. The individual was identified as 42-year-old Courtney Rashun Woullard of Austell. Following an investigation by the Major Crimes Unit, Woullard was charged with felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Authorities stated that Woullard used a. 45-caliber pistol in the shootings. He was subsequently booked into the Cobb County jail and was being held without bond. While an arrest has been made, the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting remains ongoing, and a possible motive has not been publicly released.
