In the midst of a bustling Wednesday morning commute in Washington, D.C., a tragedy unfolded that would claim the life of a heroic public servant. Robert Cunningham, a 64-year-old Metro mechanic, was fatally shot on February 1, 2023, inside the Potomac Avenue Metro Station. Known to friends and colleagues as 'Bob' or 'Ham,' Cunningham was a veteran employee of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority with over 20 years of service.
