On a late Monday evening in Washington, D.C., the life of William Raymond Jones, a 27-year-old male, was tragically cut short. On September 18, 2023, at approximately 11:25 p.m., the sounds of gunshots pierced the night in the 2600 block of Bowen Road, Southeast. Responding to the gunfire, officers from the Seventh District discovered a grim scene.
Inside a vehicle, they found William Raymond Jones, who had sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
A native of the Washington area, Jones was born on March 20, 1996, at the Washington Hospital Center. He was a man deeply connected to his family, known for his presence at every family function. His greatest joys were his two daughters. He was an employee at Medstar Washington Hospital Center and had an entrepreneurial spirit, having started his own clothing line. A passionate fan of the New Orleans Saints, his love for the team was a notable part of his life, as was his enjoyment of music.
Shortly after discovering Jones, police located a second man in the vicinity who had also been shot. This individual was transported to a local hospital in critical but stable condition. The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch is actively investigating the shooting. At this time, no information regarding any suspects or arrests in connection with the death of William Raymond Jones has been publicly released. Authorities have offered a reward of up to $25,000 for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this homicide.
