In the Brentwood neighborhood of Northeast Washington, D.C., on the evening of September 27, 2023, a violent outbreak of gunfire shattered the night, leaving two men dead and three others wounded. One of the men who lost his life was James Cooper Jr., a 46-year-old who was reportedly visiting his mother. The incident occurred at approximately 9:50 p.m. in the 2500 block of 14th Street, Northeast.
