In the late morning of a day distressingly close to Christmas, the life of 35-year-old Patricia Harris was abruptly ended. On December 21, 2023, what should have been a normal Thursday in her Southwest, D.C. neighborhood turned into a scene of violence and loss. At approximately 11:49 a.m., gunfire erupted in the 1300 block of Half Street Southwest, a busy area near Nationals Park. Harris was caught in the barrage of bullets and died at the scene.
