In the waning hours of a December evening in Washington, D.C., the life of 19-year-old Ronald Crews was tragically cut short. On Tuesday, December 26, 2023, the young Black man was fatally shot in the 2600 block of Benning Road, Northeast. The initial alert to law enforcement came at approximately 6:55 p.m. as a report of gunshots in that area. Responding officers from the Fifth District of the Metropolitan Police Department discovered evidence of a shooting but found no victim at the scene.
