On the night of May 16, 2023, a double shooting occurred in the Little Havana neighborhood of Miami, Florida. The incident took place around 9 p.m. in the area of Southwest 28th Avenue and 13th Street. Two men were found suffering from gunshot wounds at the scene.
The victims, 18-year-old Vincent Celani and a 23-year-old man whose identity was not released, were rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center.
Despite medical efforts, Vincent Celani died from his injuries, while the 23-year-old was listed in serious condition.
Neighbors reported hearing six or seven gunshots and described the chaotic scene, including cries for help and someone yelling "he has a gun!" Surveillance video from a nearby house captured these screams and pleas for assistance. When residents went outside, they saw police already at the scene and one of the victims on the ground receiving oxygen.
The police investigation is ongoing, with officers scouring the area for evidence using K-9 units. Two cars with bullet holes, a black SUV and a red sedan, were removed from the scene by police. As of the current reports, the shooter or shooters remain at large, and detectives are seeking any information that could lead to their identification.
