Dylonn Bealle-Veneziale, a 23-year-old man from Jacksonville, Florida, was found dead from a gunshot wound on June 12, 2023, in the Arlington neighborhood. The incident occurred near the intersection of Alderman Road and Eddy Road, where officers responded to the scene just before 11:30 p.m..
Bealle-Veneziale, affectionately known as "Venzo" by his friends, was described as a loving, caring, and energetic individual who always had a smile on his face.
His mother, Mary Rose Veneziale, remembered him as a "good kid" who cared deeply about the people who loved him. Friends and family highlighted his contagious laugh and the significant impact he had on those around him.
The circumstances leading to the shooting are unclear. Bealle-Veneziale's mother last saw him on Saturday and received a series of texts from him on the night of the incident, including a final text that read "Mommy" around the time he was shot. The neighborhood, typically described as quiet and friendly, was shocked by the violence.
An investigation by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) was ongoing, and as of the initial reports, it was unclear whether Bealle-Veneziale was walking or in a car at the time of the shooting, or how many shots were fired. A doorbell video from a neighbor captured the sound of multiple popping noises and a car's headlight near the intersection of Eddy Road and Alderman Road.
After a roughly year-long investigation, JSO identified and arrested a suspect. Cierra Martin, a 31-year-old woman who was already serving a prison sentence for aggravated assault at the Lowell Correctional Institute, was charged with murder in connection to Bealle-Veneziale's death. Martin was taken to a Jacksonville detention facility following her arrest.
