On September 1, 2023, a tragic incident occurred in Crestview, Florida, resulting in the death of Christa Vallie-Moreno. Christa Vallie-Moreno, who was 51 years old at the time of her death, was fatally shot by her ex-husband, Corey Ray Vallie.
Corey Ray Vallie, 54, was arrested and charged with First Degree Premeditated Homicide and Obstructing Justice. The incident unfolded when officers from the Crestview Police Department responded to a call at 820 Moorhen Way around 11:23 p.m.
The call was made by Vallie's mother, who reported that her son had phoned her stating he had shot and killed Christa Vallie-Moreno.
During the investigation, it was discovered that Corey Vallie had contacted his mother earlier in the day, around 2:00 p.m., and informed her that he was calling an ambulance after shooting his wife. However, he did not follow through with this action and did not notify law enforcement. It was only when his mother realized that no ambulance had been called and no law enforcement had been notified that she contacted the police.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers detained Corey Vallie and found the body of Christa Vallie-Moreno inside the home. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement assisted in processing the crime scene, and the Crestview Police Department continued to investigate the events leading up to the alleged murder.
Corey Vallie was transported to the Okaloosa County Jail without incident and is being held without bond. Christa Vallie-Moreno and Corey Ray Vallie were divorced in 2020, according to court records. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the murder is ongoing.
