Robert Price, a 56-year-old white male, and his wife Jolene Price, a 51-year-old white female, were tragically killed on November 13, 2019, in their home in Crestview, Florida. The couple was found dead in the master bedroom of their residence, both having sustained fatal gunshot wounds to the head. The incident was reported to the authorities by their son, Jacob Daniel Price, who turned himself in to the Crestview Police Department shortly after the murders, wearing a bloodied shirt and
confessing to the crime.
Jacob Price, a 30-year-old former Marine, admitted to shooting his parents and two family dogs. He was charged with two counts of premeditated murder and two counts of aggravated animal cruelty. The motive behind the killings remains under investigation, but it was noted that Jacob had been living with his parents at the time of the incident. The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office conducted the initial investigation, and autopsies were performed by the First Judicial Circuit Medical Examiner's Office.
The case drew significant attention due to the brutal nature of the crime and Jacob's military background. He served as a field radio operator in the U.S. Marine Corps from 2009 to 2013 and was deployed twice under Operation Enduring Freedom. However, his service ended at the rank of private due to conduct that did not meet the Marine Corps' standards. The surviving family members, including the couple's other children and relatives, were left to cope with the devastating loss and the shocking circumstances surrounding the deaths.
