William Robert Tempesta, a 56-year-old man from Deltona, Florida, was found dead in West Palm Beach on September 10, 2023. His body was discovered by a passerby on the side of the road near 45th Street and Jog Road, specifically in the 5900 block of North Jog Road, between the entrance to the Ironhorse subdivision and the Florida Turnpike.
Tempesta died from gunshot wounds, and police believe his body was dumped in the rural area of West Palm Beach, approximately 180 miles from his
home in Deltona, Volusia County. The investigation suggests that he was shot and killed at a different location before his body was left in West Palm Beach.
Prior to his death, Tempesta was last seen at his home in Deltona on Saturday afternoon. Earlier that day, he had been at a bar in Deltona, one of several local bars he was known to frequent. Detectives are working to fill in the timeline from Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning when his body was found.
Tempesta had a criminal record, including arrests for careless driving, resisting an officer without violence, disorderly intoxication, DUI, battery, assault, burglary, and driving while his license was permanently revoked.
The West Palm Beach Police Department is seeking information from the public to help establish the events leading to Tempesta's death. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Regina Wood or submit a tip through Crime Stoppers of Palm Beach County. A reward of up to $5,000 has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest of those responsible for his murder.
Residents of the Ironhorse neighborhood, where the body was found, expressed shock and concern over the incident, highlighting the unusual nature of such a crime in their typically quiet residential area.
