James C. Bolden III, a 24-year-old resident of Jacksonville, Florida, was fatally shot on the evening of April 3, 2024. The incident occurred in front of a Walgreens store located at 5990 Townsend Rd. in Jacksonville. Police officers from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) responded to the scene around 8 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found Bolden lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.
First responders from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department also arrived at the scene and pronounced Bolden dead.
The suspect in the shooting, identified as Sameer Jamal Ramesar, 21, turned himself in to the authorities shortly after the incident. Ramesar walked up to an officer while a perimeter was being established around the crime scene. Following an investigation that included speaking with several witnesses, reviewing video surveillance footage, and consulting with the State Attorney's Office, Ramesar was charged with second-degree murder.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, and the JSO has requested that anyone with information contact them through their non-emergency number or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
