Vernell Bing Jr., aged 22, was fatally shot by a Jacksonville Sheriff’s Officer, Tyler Landreville, on May 22, 2016, in Jacksonville, Florida. The incident began with a high-speed chase after Bing, who was allegedly driving a stolen vehicle. The chase ended when Bing crashed into a police vehicle in the Springfield neighborhood, one of Jacksonville's historic Black areas. Officer Landreville fired multiple times, striking Bing in the head. Bing was unarmed at the time. He was transported to a ...
