Lekendrick Bernard Burch, a 31-year-old resident of Valdosta, Georgia, was identified as the victim of a shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of Monday, April 22, 2024, in Madison County, Florida.
The investigation into Burch's death involved collaborative efforts from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), Special Agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and the Third Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office.
As a result of this investigative work, Detrone Middleton, Jr. was arrested and charged with homicide in connection with Burch's death.
Middleton was taken into custody later on the same day, April 22, 2024, and was held in the Madison County Jail without bond, pending his first appearance in court. The swift arrest was attributed to the strong relationships and cooperation between the MCSO, other agencies, community leaders, and civic organizations.
