His trial experienced several setbacks, including a mistrial and a hung jury. Ultimately, in March 2018, Davis pled guilty to a lesser charge of manslaughter and was sentenced to six years in the Florida Department of Corrections, with credit for time served. The decision to accept a plea deal was influenced by the desire to provide closure to Solomon's family, particularly his mother, after two years of legal battles.
