On May 23, 2024, a shooting incident occurred on Jacksonville's Northside, resulting in the death of Byron W. Walker, a 41-year-old man. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office (JSO) reported that the shooting took place at approximately 9:45 p.m. in the 10500 block of Maidstone Cove Drive. Walker was shot multiple times and was transported to UF Health Hospital in Jacksonville, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
