On June 7, 2024, a tragic incident occurred on the northbound Florida Turnpike near Mile Marker 49, just south of Hollywood Boulevard in Broward County, Florida. Beatrice Saintvil and her 4-year-old daughter, Janelle Souffrant, were shot around 11:14 p.m. while inside their vehicle, which was parked in the left breakdown lane.
