Charles Jones, known professionally as Julio Foolio, a 26-year-old rapper from Jacksonville, Florida, was fatally shot in the early hours of Sunday, June 23, 2024, in Tampa, Florida. Jones was celebrating his 26th birthday, which was on June 21, 2024. The celebration began at an Airbnb, but due to overcrowding and police intervention, the party was moved to a Holiday Inn hotel.
At the Holiday Inn Tampa North, located at 11606 McKinley Drive, Jones and his entourage were ambushed in the parking lot. The shooting occurred around 4:40 a.m., with three shooters exiting a vehicle and using a handgun and two rifles to open fire. This barrage of gunfire resulted in Jones' death and injured three other individuals, who were later reported to be in stable condition.
The investigation revealed that the shooting was part of an ongoing feud between Jones' gang, the 6 Block Gang, and rival gangs ATK and 1200. Detectives found that the suspects had tracked Jones from the Airbnb to the hotel, using surveillance video, license plate readers, and phone logs to piece together the events. Isaiah Chance and Alicia Andrews were identified as the individuals who tracked Jones to each location, while Rashad Murphy, Davion Murphy, and Sean Gathright were identified as the shooters.
As of the latest updates, four suspects have been arrested in connection with Jones' murder: Isaiah Chance, 21; Alicia Andrews, 21; Sean Gathright, 18; and Rashad Murphy, 30. Davion Murphy, 27, is still at large with a warrant out for his arrest. All the suspects are facing charges of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.
The Tampa Police Department and other law enforcement agencies emphasized the premeditated nature of the crime, highlighting that the feud between the gangs has spanned over a decade and resulted in numerous murders. The authorities have urged the community to come forward with any information that could aid in the investigation and have stressed that participating in the planning of a murder can lead to severe legal consequences.
