On July 3, 2024, a fatal shooting and crash occurred in Tamarac, Florida, resulting in the death of 25-year-old Christopher Mathurin. The incident took place near the 6300 block of West Commercial Boulevard, where authorities responded to reports of a crash and shots fired shortly after 2:19 a.m.
Upon arrival, deputies from the Broward Sheriff's Office found Christopher Mathurin deceased inside a vehicle.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a shooting had taken place, and two vehicles were involved in the crash. Surveillance video captured the moment of the gunfire and the collision, showing one of the cars colliding with the exterior wall of a home.
The surveillance footage also showed two individuals fleeing the scene immediately after the incident. These suspects were described as having distinct physical builds: one with a slim build and the other with a stocky build. Both were wearing dark clothing. Authorities believe these individuals are connected to Mathurin's murder and are seeking the public's help in locating them.
The Broward Sheriff's Office is urging anyone with information to contact the BSO Homicide Unit. Detectives Steven Novak and Kevin White are handling the case, and tips can be submitted through Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online.
