On July 15, 2024, 18-year-old Bryanna Nina was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting in North Lauderdale, Florida. The incident occurred outside a small apartment building at the corner of Southwest 76th Avenue and Tam O’Shanter Boulevard. Nina and her younger sister, Eliana, had been visiting a friend, a common routine for them, and were waiting outside for an Uber to go home when the shooting happened around 6:45 p.m..
According to the authorities, a dark-colored car pulled up, and multiple individuals got out and started shooting. Nina was struck by several bullets and was rushed to Broward Health North, where she was pronounced dead. Her sister Eliana witnessed the incident and described the moment when she saw Bryanna fall to the ground.
Bryanna Nina was a high school student looking forward to graduating the following year. Her death has left her family, particularly her mother Marisol Rivas, in immense grief. Rivas expressed her devastation and pleaded for anyone with information about the incident to come forward to help bring justice for her daughter.
Months after the shooting, on October 22, 2024, Tyler Mobley, 23, was arrested in Sunrise, Florida, on a first-degree murder charge in connection with Bryanna Nina's death. Mobley was identified as one of the suspects, and a warrant had been issued for his arrest. He was booked into jail and also faces charges for probation violation, having been given probation earlier in the year for multiple charges including fleeing and eluding, carrying a concealed firearm, and burglary.
Nina's mother, Marisol Rivas, felt a mix of relief and sadness upon learning of Mobley's arrest. While she acknowledged that justice was being served, she emphasized the ongoing pain of losing her daughter, who she described as having a vibrant personality and a whole life ahead of her. Detectives informed Rivas that Bryanna was not the intended target of the shooting.
