On August 24, 2024, an 18-year-old man named Ammon Watson was shot and killed in Oakland Park, Florida. The incident occurred shortly before 12 p.m. near the 2100 block of Northwest 28th Street. When deputies from the Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) and Oakland Park Fire Rescue units arrived at the scene, they found Watson in the driveway suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Watson, who had recently become a father, was described by his cousins as a "sweet person." According to family members, he was heading out to a store when the shooting occurred. The perpetrator is reported to have run up to Watson and pulled the trigger before fleeing on foot.
The BSO’s Crime Scene and Homicide Units are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Deputies quickly established a perimeter and canvassed the area in search of the gunman, but as of the current date, no arrests have been made.
The authorities are seeking any information that might lead to the identification and apprehension of the shooter.
