On May 23, 2024, at approximately 6:04 a.m., the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) responded to a call for service regarding a shooting on South Nevada Avenue near the southbound off-ramp from I-25. Upon arrival, officers found a male with at least one gunshot wound. The male, later identified as 45-year-old Darryl Edward Scurry Jr., was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
