In the early morning hours of a late June day, the life of 37-year-old Francisca Maria Gonzalez was tragically cut short in Pueblo, Colorado. A Hispanic female known for her vibrant sense of humor and deep love for her family, she became a victim of gun violence on June 27, 2024. The Pueblo Police Department was first alerted to the incident by a ShotSpotter notification indicating shots fired in the 200 block of South Portland Avenue.
Shortly after the initial alert, a second call
directed officers to the intersection of East 5th Street and Reading Avenue. There, they found Francisca suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was immediately transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
The investigation into her death was quickly classified as a homicide, with detectives from the Pueblo Police crimes against persons unit and crime scene investigations units taking the lead.
