On the night of Friday, April 12, 2024, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, 18-year-old Lamarion Evant Bailey, a male, died from a gunshot wound. The fatal incident unfolded at approximately 9:55 p.m. at the Race Street Market, situated at the corner of Race Street and Richardson Drive.

Jonesboro police who responded to the scene discovered Bailey deceased. Another man, 23-year-old Damariante Russell, was also involved and sustained a gunshot wound to his chest. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Subsequent police reports indicated that Bailey was attempting to rob Russell when the shooting occurred. It is believed that both men were shot during the course of the robbery.

Initially, police reports listed a 14-year-old as a suspect in the shooting. However, this was later revised, and Damariante Russell was named as the suspect. The police investigation concluded that Bailey was killed while committing a crime, and the case has since been closed by the Jonesboro Police Department. The final determination as to whether the homicide was justifiable will be made by the 2nd Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
