In the early evening of April 15, 2024, the Pine Bluff Police Department received a call reporting a shooting at a residence located at 1918 S. Arlington. Upon their arrival just after 7:30 PM, officers discovered two individuals inside the home who had been shot. One of the men was 33-year-old Roderick Breedlove, who had already succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second victim found at the residence was Joseph Lampkin, also 33 years old.
Lampkin had sustained gunshot wounds that were considered non-life-threatening, and he was transported by ambulance to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for treatment. The circumstances that led to the shooting are still under investigation, and authorities have not released a motive for the attack.
In the months following the shooting, the investigation into Roderick Breedlove's death has continued, but no suspects have been publicly identified, and no arrests have been made. The case remains an active homicide investigation. Seven months after his death, his family gathered to honor his memory with a lantern release on what would have been his 34th birthday. They continue to hope for justice and have pleaded with the public for anyone with information to come forward to assist the Pine Bluff Police Department in their investigation.
