On October 5, 2023, Maurice Brown, a 21-year-old resident of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was fatally shot in a violent incident at the Pointe Apartments, located at 3960 Sherman St. NE. The shooting occurred in the apartment complex's parking lot, where Brown had placed a DoorDash order that was being delivered by Myron Snyder, another 21-year-old from Cedar Rapids.
