The events of that fateful evening began to come to light when the Monona County Communication Center received a 911 call at approximately 5:42 p.m. reporting a shooting in the 1900 block of Granite Street. Deputies from the Monona County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the scene. Upon their arrival, they discovered Stacey Allen deceased, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound outside of her home. The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation was called in to assist the local sheriff's office with the ensuing investigation into the homicide.
At the scene of the shooting, law enforcement took a suspect into custody without incident. The individual arrested was identified as 48-year-old Jamie Allen, Stacey's husband. He was transported to the Monona County Jail and subsequently charged with Murder in the 1st Degree, a Class A Felony.
