In the early morning hours of March 15, 2020, a gathering at a home on West Linn Street in Marshalltown, Iowa, took a tragic turn, ending the life of 27-year-old Blake Thomas, a Black / African American male. The night, which had been filled with the sounds of a party, descended into a fatal confrontation fueled by what was described as "trash talking."
