In the summer of 2022, the life of Charles Lamont Russian Lovelady, a 22-year-old Black or African American male from Des Moines, Iowa, was tragically cut short. On the evening of July 31st, Lovelady arrived at Broadlawns Medical Center with a gunshot wound. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries, marking the city's 11th homicide of the year.
