In the cold of a January night in Des Moines, Iowa, the life of Cory Lee Channon, a 39-year-old Caucasian male, was brought to a sudden and violent end. On January 9, 2018, within the confines of an apartment at 1332 21st Street, just a few blocks from Drake University, Channon was shot in the chest. The incident, which occurred around 11:30 p.m., marked the city's first homicide of the new year.
