In the early evening of January 3, 2022, a burst of violence shattered the night in the parking lot of a Scottsdale, Arizona hotel. It was there that Ilya Mike Shimonov, a 32-year-old White/Caucasian male, was shot. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. near the Hyatt Place Hotel in Old Town Scottsdale. First responders found Shimonov gravely wounded and rushed him to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal.
